The City of Stockdale, containing an area of 826.5 acres, was incorporated by a favorable vote of 66 to 14 on June 7, 1919. Stockdale now encompasses an area of 1,050 acres and a population of about 1500. The primary electric power supplier in the city is Floresville Electric Light and Power System (FELPS). Guadalupe Valley Electric Coop (GVEC) also provides power to parts of Stockdale and the surrounding area.

The city owned water, wastewater, and natural gas utility systems are all capable of servicing substantial growth. The Carrizo Aquifer provides us with excellent water quality. In cooperation with Sunko Water Corporation, an interconnection is installed to insure a backup water supply for both entities in case of emergency.

Stockdale is serviced by a well equipped and well trained volunteer fire department. Stockdale Volunteer Ambulance Service is housed in the new Emergency Services Facility along with the fire department. Our city park spans over 35 acres. It has a picnic and playground area shaded by about 75 pecan trees. There are also three baseball fields, two basketball courts, six volleyball courts, tennis courts, a rodeo arena, and three covered pavilions. There is also an active beautification program.

Stockdale lies at the intersection of U. S. Highway 87 and State Highway 123; 35 miles east of San Antonio. We are a two-hour drive from the coastal beaches in the Corpus Christi area, and about an hour from the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Austin, the state capital, is a 75-mile drive.

We have a tax abatement program available and welcome business' looking to locate or relocate, to consider Stockdale as a possible home. We have an excellent public school system, reasonable tax rates, and a friendly atmosphere.

We welcome you to our site and hope you will take time to visit our community.

 Sincerely,

Carl Lambeck, City Manager
